OEM brake rotor? & Repacking FMF pipe

    by CRF230dad » Wed Mar 21, 2007 11:30 am

Just got a 2000 CR250 for my son. Needs a new rear brake rotor. Should I just get the stock OEM or an after market? Don't want to spend a bundle. Mostly desert but some track riding (some times mud).
Also the seller told me the tail pipe needs repacking. He gave me the packing but I have no idea where to start. Any articles with pictures that I can refer to? FMF with a silencer & spark arrestor. Thanks!

    I’d start reading here…. http://www.allthingsmoto.com/forums/f-28/
Another great board full of 2-stroke advice with a Honda specific 2-stroke section.

The re pack is easy. If it has not been done yet the pipe may have rivets in it. If so drill them out and pull the pipe apart. Toss the old packing if any exists. Clean out all the spooge then take a wire brush to the baffle and make sure the holes are not blocked.
Cut the new packing to the length of your pipe. Wrap it around the baffle tightly then use some masking tape to hold it on wile your re assembling it.
Use some self tapping screw to make it easier to change the packing next year.
