    What would it take?

What would it take for you to buy a new bike? As I get my 05 450X dialed in and thinking about do I sell the old parts that were replaced with better aftermarket ones or do I keep them to put back on so I can take my good aftermarket parts and put them on my next ride. So then I had a thought.........

Why would I buy a new ride anyway? My 450X has plenty of power already. The suspension I'm going to spend money on and get dialed in anyway. Maybe a different color?

My only answer to that question was fuel injection from the factory.

So what would it take for you to buy a new ride? Now some of you I know buy a new ride every couple of years just to get a new one but would be the new improvement that would make you go down to the shop today and buy?

I like to keep most of the stock parts, because there's really nothing that increases the value of a used bike as little as add-ons do. Nothing increases it's value quite as much as new plastic and tires.
Don't get me wrong, I love add-ons, bling and blang, both functional and appearance ones. What sells a used bike though is a super clean looking bike that has been well maintained.
I love my current bike, but a CRF525X six speed might do it , and ad-on bikes that woul ddo it would be a CRF150X and/or a CRF250R with a Rekluse and woods goodies. Doug

I came from a KTM 520MXC and it had power for days but in a single track situation I found it a little too much. But watch out on those fire roads.

For me it seems to be test riding others bikes. So far its cost my wife 3 new bikes.

I always keep the stock parts. My thought is to have them around just in case I damage something. At least I can get back out while waiting on replacements.

For me to buy a new bike, I would need more money and would need to see a definite advantage in having a new bike. I would have a hard time selling my '04 and paying double what I bought it for in order to have a new bike. Fuel injection would be cool, but that wouldn't get to me to sell my bike. I dunno. I guess it just comes down to necessity. My bike is plenty fast enough, new enough to be competitive with new bikes, and in good condition. To be honest, I don't really see any reason for me to buy a new bike.

I know I'm not able to ride my bike anywhere near it's capabilities right now, so I guess a new bike wouldn't benefit me right now. Atleast not enough to justify the cost.

I agree with Blown98. I have yet to master the full potential of my '05 450X. It has as much power as my old bones need and the suspension is dialed in quite well.

The only thing that would grab my attention would be if they shed about 15 lbs off of them.
Really, I can't see them improving enough in the near future to warrant the expense and hassle of getting a new bike...unless its wore out.

Just take good care of the one you have...
While in college, I learned many things.....I just wish I could remember some of them.
