Head on with the goat

Ok, I mean a goat not the GOAT. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone else had any similar stories about seeing strange things while riding. Here is one from Sunday.

My buddy and I were riding a trail that is close to my house on Sunday. Everything was going well, we hit the trail a couple of times than we took a break. On our next trip we were about half way into it and we had to jump off the trail because something was blocking it. When we got close enough, we saw that it was a dead goat that had some "goat parts" pulled out and some drag marks across the trail. We figured it must have been a mountain lion or coyotes and we scared them off. It was awfully weird though.

We have a cabin in northern MI. I've killed pheasants, woodcock, and one blue jay with my front number plate. Ran over squirrels and a turkey. See deer up close by the dozens. Even followed a black bear and spooked out a badger.

The most frightening run-in was an elk (bull). We see them all the time, but this sighting was different. I was railing a corner and came out of the berm on the gas. As I looked up, there it was about 20-30 ft away standing in the middle of the trail. Big 6 X 6 and I startled it. Locked up the brakes and missed him by 10ft or so. He ran about 30 ft into the woods and stared back at me. He WAS pi$$ed and I HAD pi$$ed. LOL. Scary...

This is a repost for me, but still takes the cake (for me) as far as "out of the ordinary" trail experiences...

nedirtbikr wrote:The area we ride the most runs right along a section of the Missouri river. It has several little beach like areas with lots of trees where people can pull their boats up and hang out, camp, whatever. Last summer, my son and I (mind you, he had just turned 13) were riding and it was towards the end of the day (6pm-ish.)

We come upon one of these little beach areas, which just happens to be at the beginning of one of our favorite woop sections, and what do we see? TWO TOPLESS GIRLS RUNNING RIGHT AT US WAVING THEIR ARMS! (Did I mention that I had a 13 year old "heterosexual" boy with me?)

Needless to say, both my son and I were completely stunned. I can't count how many times we looked at the girls, looked back at each other...looked at the girls, looked back at each other...without a single word...trying to figure out just when we rode into the twilight zone.

They came over with their g-string bottoms and naked tops (no tan lines...it was clear what they were doing.) They said they had seen riders come by and wanted a closer look at the motorcycles. As you might expect, we both were speechless...which doesn't really matter because the girls were too old for my son and too young for me. It was obvious afterwards they just wanted to tease a couple unsuspecting guys because they only spent about a minute with us (which seemed like an hour) and then went giggling back down to the beach behind the trees.

Anyway, my son was the hero of his group of friends last year and still gets "ata boy's" from them to this day.

I told my wife about it and got the expected  .

That's the most interesting one for us so far.

No doubt! This experience was one of the main catalysts for me investing in a helmet cam. I'm sure something like this will never happen again, but if it does, I'll have it on film! 8)

this one time i was riding in pennsilvania and I stopped on the trail to take a wiz and wait for my dad and uncle to catch up. I walked about 30 feet away from my bike. after i was done, to my complete surprise, bigfoot was next to my bike. i yelled at him to leave. He was offended and before he left, he kicked over my crf and ran.

Just kidding.

but ive hit many squirells and rodents before. ive had 2 encounters on my own trail where i came around a corner and came about a foot from nailing a deer crossing the trail. A few times i had to stop in the middle of the trail and physically push baby deer away. they just stand there blocking of the whole trail and u need to just about flick them, then they move.

A few years ago I was hauling down and old forest fire road south of Prescott in the Bradshaws. I came around a blind turn and WHAM flipped over the handle bars didn't see a thing, it FELT like it took me an hour to figure out that the huge javelina that squealed and ran into the bushes when I wrecked met my front tire. :/

I'm sure glad you set us straight on that! I was thinking...BIGFOOT...in New Jersey? NO WAY! Even Bigfoot knows New Jersey's a dump! He wouldn't live there! ;) I kid, I kid! I only say that because I lived in Cape May for three years. You know...Exit 1!? :) Had a great time while we were there.

Is it a giant rat or pig? If a pig, did you eat him?

This isn't that big, but it was humorous to me. I was riding with a friend at Ballinger. I had gotten a little ahead and waited for him. When he didn't show I went in search of. I found him down another trail just sitting there with his motor off. I rolled up and asked WTF? I was pissed. Anyway, I looked at the ground and found that he had parked with his front wheel sitting on a rattlesnake, and didn't even know it. The snake was writhing around trying to get away. I pointed it out to him and he threw his bike away and ran. No harm to bike, rider, or snake.

I had a bob cat give me a mean look for chasing him off a single track at Gorman a few months ago. Thought he was going to take me and my 450X on at the same time...gotta love that fighting spirit.

I was roaring down a very tight trail out behind my house(u can see my track on msn maps:)) (NE66th st carnation washington 98014) (just look for the big open area on top of the hill) And out of nowhere a BAld Eagle comes soaring in front of me(their are trees at the top of this trail so hes about 20 feet up) and I followed him about 100yards down the trail.Awesome
