    club memberships

by matt watt » Fri Dec 15, 2006 9:37 pm

Hey guy,s how many of you are members of a bike club? Our local club is trying to get more members. What do you get for being members of your respective clubs? The thing here is you can ride pretty much were ever you want so a lot of local riders don,t see the advantage of being a member. Our moto track is fenced and the gate is locked but people break in and ride the track anyway. We catch them and invite them to get a membership and come back later but they never buy one. So I guess what I,m asking is what kind of things do you give with the membership to make people want to join? Also how much do your memberships cost? Thank,s any advise would be helpful.

Our club grounds were bought buy a guy and he closed it down after 3 years so no club now . There aren't a lot of places to ride around here. Our club was fenced and locked. For $20 a year and 50 hours of work you got...a key to the gate to ride anytime you wanted. We held 4-6 MX races a year and had a work day before each one. If you worked 3 prep days and 2 races you were covered for the hours. We always had lots of stuff to give away. Held club picnics and just had fun with club friends. So I guess the most important part of club membership is the comrodery. Also we had the problem of people breaking in. We let local law enforcement know if anyone was in without a membership card they were trespassing and to arrest them

    Riding Clubs

    by YUMA450X » Sat Dec 16, 2006 5:49 pm

My club has no private land but organizes sanctioned races on Public lands. Benefits of membership are too numerous to count. Club takes care of everything so guys like me just have to show up and race. Best benefit is the association with such awesome people. I encourage everyone riding off road to join a local club. :D

20 bucks a year! Damn, that's cheap. There is guy that lives close to me that has a nice private track, and he charges 90 dollars a month. He does groom the track on a reg basis but I still think that is a bit much.

When our club was membership only, we charged $200 for the year. We rode approximately 15-20 times. We no longer require work days either, but at the time could be bought for $50/ea. We strongly engouraged the work days...Lol.

Anyway, I would have the people arrested if they were trespassing. No questions, there is no better way to discourage this behavior. Catching them and being nice to them does not say "don't do it". It says "don't get caught, but it's OK even if you do..."

Have them arrested and then invite them to join. Comment - "See. You could have paid the member dues with the trespassing and bail fees associated with your new criminal record..."
