new boots

just a quick one ,im buying a new set of boots and wondering how people find the different type of boots ,im looking at ALPINESTARS TECH 8(found a graet price on the net ) and GAERNE SG10 , currently using oxtars which have run there life ,i ride in a lot of enduro(not competitive) over wet and mucky and slippyconditions over mountains so they have to be as waterproof as possible

Those are both great boots.

If you post this on Thumpertalk, you'll get 14 pages out of it. I have a report done by some physicians that essentially says if it's not hinged, it ain't no good! Sorry, I grew up in West Virginia. Which just leaves you with one question, how much can you spend? I got the Sidi Crossfire SRS's, but a lot of people I ride with wear SG-10's and love them. The report also emphasises sole stiffness, which is why I got the SRS sole.The only way I could describe the boot is a comfortable, flexible cast. I broke my toe with my Fox boots and almost or slightly strained my ankle tons of times. Problems no more!

The buckles don't stay locked on the Fox boots. Not just mine, but others as well. Alpinestars just don't seem to last as long as other boots. They make replacement parts but other boots hold up longer. Trying Berik boots this year.

Try Gaerne SG 10-solid boots, well made, comfortable with ankle pivots, adjustable clips and straps for larger guys, you get what you pay for.

I went budget with the Fox Trackers ($150 OTD), haven't had a popped buckle yet, but there is a big gap at the ankle bend. They are comfortable, and protected me well glancing off of several rocks.
Owned AXO's in the past, great fit and durability at a higher price.
Like everything else, you get what you pay for.

Those Tech 7's look like the Vectors. I currently have the Vectors and love them. They don't have the hinged ankle mentioned about but they are keep the water out pretty good.

which is better, the tech 10 or the tech 7? i looked at the tech 7 online and it said that some of the stuff on it was derived from the 10, but i didn't read anything about the 7 having the inner 2 hinged bootie thing like the 10 does. so i would think the 7 is newer, therefore maybe being better, but i have no idea. also, the alpinestars site doesn't have the 7 on it. whys that?

I have Tech 6s, and I would never buy them again.
They are fairly confortable, but they are very difficult to unbuckle sometimes. In my opinion, the buckle design is crap.
