Id say the 450R is a much more versatile bike than either of the 250s, it makes a load more torque for offroad type stuff, and is a great track bike. About the only thing I would change is to install a heavier flywheel if you ride offroad more than track.

about the best advice I can give you is to select the bike that will work the best in what you ride predominantly. R for track and X for trail/desert. These guys are talking mostly about power. You have to consider suspension, torque, comfort, fuel supply, etc. The X shines overall on the trail and the R on the track. Either can cross-over but they are a compromise.

Little things for the trail, like the electric starting, the headlight, larger fuel tank, and the kick stand are hugh when needed. The R is without and more of a hassle.

The opposite is true for the R on the track.

It all comes down to what you want to ride and how you want to ride.
