I have a 2007 CRF 250r that I am rebuilding after purchasing it from someone. I am currently wrapping up the rebuild and trying to put the exhaust valves in spec. When putting in a smaller shim to make a bigger clearance, the shim seems to be so small that the walls of the valve spring retainer are bigger than the actual shim. When trying to measure it again I cant get a accurate reading because the valve spring retainer walls are in the way and its continuously giving me the same reading over and over again. What would cause me needing to put in a shim so small that the valve spring retainer walls are taller than the shim itself therefore not allowing me to adjust to the proper clearance?

Can you post a picture of what you are running into ???? , I can't think of any logical reason why the shim would not be above the retainer ring , unless the valve spring retainer clips are installed wrong , or something like that .... pics would definitely help in this situation ....

You need a image hosting site to upload pics , what I use is IMGUR , you make a account (free) , then you upload your picture to that , then click on the image once it is uploaded , then look on the right and it will have links to copy/paste into your post

Use the BB Code for Message Boards , it will look like this [img]https:/ /i.imgur.com/HnPmgXU.jpg[/img] in your post

But show up like this , once you Submit the post

Sorry for the late response. I have figured it out, sorta lol. I took the head off and took it apart cleaned everything up then put it back together and then it seemed to fix it. I dont know what could have caused this.
