Welcome to the site !! \:D/

I don't have a Rekluse , but I run Amsoil Dirt 10-40 in both engine side and tranny side ...... Oil is a speculative choice as far as brand and type (Petroleum or Synthetic) , Rekluse has their own brand of tranny fluid (I think it is basically ATF) , but if you are unsure , then just run what Rekluse recommends in the tranny , and whatever brand/type you are comfortable with in the engine side .....

As far as recommended from users , Amsoil , Bel Ray , Honda oil , Maxima , Shell Rotella , Rekluse , are all commonly used brands that people run in their Honda's .... (with and without a Rekluse)

This is from the Rekluse website:

What kind of oil should I use ?

    DIRT BIKE:
Rekluse clutch systems are designed to work with OEM (motorcycle manufacturer) recommended oils, specifically those that meet JASO MA or MA2 standards. Our in-house oil testing has shown that clutch performance is maximized with oils designed specifically for wet-clutch applications.

Rekluse does NOT recommend the following for use with Rekluse clutch systems:

    – JASO-MB oils – these are not designed for use with wet clutches
    – Automotive oils – these can contain friction modifiers that negatively affect clutch performance

So read the label of the oil you are considering buying , if it says JASO-MB , do not use it , if it says JASO-MA , then you can safely use it ... but try to stick with brands that are made specifically for motorcycles , and even better , oil made specifically for dirt bikes , as the abuse is much greater than what a street bike engine goes thru Hope that helps ;)

I have not tried ATF Type "F" in my 450. But I use it in the trials bike as it is recommended by the Gas Gas manufacture race team. Trials bikes take and get an incredible amount of clutch use and abuse compared to our dirt bikes.
I also use ATF "F" in my YZ250. It actually makes perfect sense. Automatic transmissions use the same style of wet clutches in an oil bath system.
Just food for thought for you. Next oil change I may give it a try in the transmission of my 450. I have utmost confidence it will work very well. I presently use Castrol GTX 20/50 or 10/40 with no issues ever.
Jim, you ever give ATF a try in the 450 ?

When you say Gear Oil , are you talking 90 wt fish oil gear oil ?? , or something else ??

But to answer your question ...... You can simply flush the system out with fresh engine oil if you wish , since you did not start it , it did not circulate thru the engine , so all you need to do is flush it thru and you should be fine .... just get some cheap Walmart oil or something and just run it thru , you don't need to start it , just fill it , and drain it , maybe do it twice (1 quart should be sufficient) and that should get enough of it out to clear everything , then put in the correct oil and you should be good to go ... ;)

No I have not Neil , but the thought has crossed my mind ..... let me know how it works ... if the shifting is not grabby and the clutch does not fade , then maybe I will try it ..... I use the clutch a lot , I don't abuse it , but I do use it for traction control and corner drive , etc. , so I am always feathering it ... but I try not to slip it for long periods .... for example , my 450X is on the original 06 plates ... my R has been on the same plates since 08 .... basket is finally starting to groove on the R , its got well over 600 hours on it ..... the X basket is getting a little grabby as well , so I will need to file the basket , and see how the plates measure up .... I pretty much use the oil I use in the engine , which at this time , is Amsoil Dirt 10-40 ....
