LightBar on 2015 CRF250R

Background: I was at Walmart one day and I saw this cheap light bar and it looked like it would fit on my dirt bike so I bought it.

My 2015 CRF250R has a small led next to the kill switch that I believe indicates when the bike is running. I spliced the light into the wires running to this with a fuse. and then to a ground. It seems to work great but the guy at my local shop told me this will mess up my bike. Should I be worried? I’ve only ridden it around a little bit and the light functions fine, I don’t see any problems. I believe it only draws 1.5 amps. I would rather not fry the electrical system in my bike so if someone knows anything about this please let me know.

Welcome to the site !! \:D/

The 250R electrical system is only supplied with a Ignition winding coil in the stator , you need one with a Lighting Coil , like Trail Tech or similar , the light is drawing power from the ignition , however slight , it is putting a load on the Ignition and it will most likely , no telling when , (1 hour , 1 week , 1 month ,etc.) give out , the system was designed for the load it is under and not much more , I would suggest following the Service guys recommendation and not using it , if you want a light , then you need a stator made for a light or accessory or else use a small battery (RC car battery comes to mind , but without a way to charge it , your light will only last a short time with that) but you need to power the light by itself ..... simple as that ... ;)
