07 vs 08 vs 09 head package differences

    by ic3man5 » Sun Jul 22, 2018 10:09 am

I'm new to the crf250r and trying to wrap my head around everything. I just picked up a 2009 crf250r and I'm doing a complete rebuild and need a complete head (and cam). Can anyone explain the differences between the three years? My understanding is the 08 and 09 are the same?

    CRF250R'08 - OEM Head w/ Kibblewhite Valves & Springs
    CO25RKWH8
    $692.55

    CRF250R'09 - OEM Head w/ Kibblewhite Valves & Springs
    CO25RKWH9
    $758.99

I'd assume since there is a price difference between the 08 and 09 there is some changes here? Since I need a new cam I'm not limited to years due to cam changes (if there are any).

I Managed to get a hold of him through email. I ended up with the 2009 head even though its more expensive. Looks like they generally only stock the 07 head and not the 08/09.

    After doing some more research:
2008 head was optimized with the valves/ports from the 07.
2009 head was optimized more and the dome in the combustion camber was changed.

I also did some research on the cams. Looks like 08/09 cam is the one to get. 04/06 cams are the same and the 08/09 cams are the same.
