Oh i know just to find out if it starves of fuel in around a minuite would mean that the float chamber is not fully filling with fuel ... What does the gasket in between the plates do as I know the bike runs ok for a minuite or two when I stripped the carb then just bogg so I think it sounds more like the old float problem thanks mate ill give it a go on the weekend and let u know thanks for help 😉

My guess is that it simply ensures a good seal between the carb and the throttle plate so additional unwanted air can't seep around the edges, which would cause a lean condition (which can cause popping).

Also check your fuel screw to ensure it is adjusted properly and in good shape (and that the -ring is present).

Uh, yeah. You need those things. That could very well be the ONLY problem. You're sure the washer and o-ring are stuck up inside? They typically don't fall out when you remove the screw. You have to use a pick and pluck them out.

Sounds to me like your main crank bearing is on its way out. This is common on the 250R. Just a guess, but maybe it starts to seize up when you increase the RPMs, which is killing the engine. Are the shavings copper colored?

I don't have an answer for that, but metal shavings aren't a good sign.
