I don't think the bog always comes from the AP pump. I have a 09' 250X with R head, cam, KW valves, vertex piston. when I first did the motor over I was having problems, my valve lash had moved on me and I was getting a bog of idle. move your needle around. change some mains out, make sure you got the right size pilot. I have a QS3 adj. leakjet and fully believe that you need to get your main circuits working properly first, the AP pump is just to aid the system. good luck in tuning my friend, if you want any further info hit me up and ill help you with any details I can.

ok to start with, check your valve lash. adjust them if necessary or have a shop adjust them if you don't have the book. see if that helps. If that didn't take care of it or they were within spec than I would think the carb was suspect. first make sure its clean, do not spray carb cleaner in there without removing the slide or it will damage it. the float must be set at 8mm, this is critical of the FCR carbs. next make sure the AP pump diaphragm is in good condition or replace it. record the size of the leak jet in the carb float bowl.
record the size of the main jet, record the size of the pilot jet, also record the number of turns in on the fuel screw before you remove it. put the carb back together and try it out. if your not comfortable with this type of work let your shop handle it. I hear good things about the JD jet kits. I am stubborn and do it the hard way.

I put a 06 carb on my 07. Ran way better and it's easier to tune also. I had the same issue. I read that the 07 carb was bigger 38mm I think. So I made the switch to the 06 carb 36mm. It shoots less fuel out of the Accelerator Pump so it bogs the bike less. So I've read on forums. Or u can mess with the Jets suggested by hall_phillip

The sole purpose of the accelerator pump is to prevent bogging. You can have a lean bog or a rich bog if the AP circuit isn't tuned properly, but to say less fuel out of the AP bogs the bike less is a misinformed statement. Buy the upgraded AP kit from this website for $30 and fix the issue for good.
