    valves adjusted........PROBLEMS !!!! help

    by WARRIOR » Sat May 16, 2015 10:08 am

Valves shims changed and WELL ....

I have everything back together ..
I FINALLY got it started.. warmed it up
took it for a roll I feathered the throttle and clutch to get moving.. putted around and then was rolling and hammered the throttle at a roll.... it will just bog ( several attempts ) until I let off the throttle... if I slow roll the throttle it would take off and then I could hit it once the R's were up and it was fine ...?????

when it run fine I still had to mess with the choke to get it started ( started more like a 2-stroke ?) even had to feather the throttle to start it before all this ... now it's A LOT worse ??? HELP PLEASE !! :x :x

Check to make sure ALL 3 Timing Marks are aligned , the cam marks level with the head , the ignition side mark inside the small round plug , and on the clutch side inside the large round plug , at this point the cam lobes should be facing around 2 o clock , if not then you have the cam a tooth off or more

How long did it sit ??

If its lean on the bottom it can be a few things , from Dirty Air Filter , to over oiled air filter , to a clogged Pilot jet , to the Fuel Screw

Does it pop when letting off the throttle (while riding) , thru the muffler ?? , if so that would indicate a lean condition

It could also be the Accelerator Pump Timing , if you lift the subframe so it pivots up (after loosening the rear carb clamp holding the airbox boot to the rear of the carb) , and then twist the throttle normally and the fuel stream should squirt a good stream , and it should just barely miss the slide as it raises , if the stream hits the slide , then the AP timing is off , and can be adjusted by taking off the black plastic cover that covers the linkage (carb linkage) , the screw can be turned to adjust when the AP squirts

I've thought it's been carb problems the whole time !!...

A friend that is a pretty good Mech. , He said it sounds like it's the low jet & the float is to high ...???

gonna have him look at it !!

He road races , MoTO-X , and super moto ... and is his own mech on everything !!
