    09 250r rebuild?

    by crf250r09 » Sun Jul 14, 2013 11:55 am

my 09 250r has just hit 150hrs, I don't race but I do a little track riding but mostly sand dunes and gravel pits. I replaced the head with the crfsonly head with kibblewhite valves around 120hrs. I keep the oil & air filter clean. I recently started having issues getting it into first gear. could I adjust it at the lever to buy a couple months until I can afford the rekluse kit? and also I still have the stock piston and rings in it. should i change that soon too? it still runs strong and starts easy.thanks for all help. does anyone have a 250r with the rekluse kit? if so how do u like it?

when you say you are "having issues getting it into first gear." if the issue is within the transmission then you need to resolve this by splitting the cases and investigating what is causing it. if a trans issue the lever or a rekluse will not fix the problem.

at a 120 hours you should start thinking about checking the piston to verify condition and spec. don't worry about the head or valves as long as they are still in spec.
