    CRF MX to supermoto conversion

    by MattGsy » Sun Jan 13, 2013 3:46 pm

    Hi I'm converting my 2005 crf250r to supermoto/road.

Does anyone have any tips or know of anything I have to do to the engine or suspension for this conversion?

    Cheers

Welcome to CRF's Only. Will you be racing supermoto or just looking for a street motard?

ok...depending on how agressive you plan on riding you could put on some street tires and be set. however, if you plan on riding aggressively you'd soon find the front brake is lacking and the wheel sizes are not correct. how agrressive will you be riding? at a minimum i recommend SM wheels:

if you install these wheels you will need a better front braking system. Some say they get by on the streets with commuter type riding with the EBC SM kit:

anything more aggressive and you'll need more power, feel and control. we are putting together a Beringer kit now so let me know your needs.

Thanks for the reply very helpful. One more question, what would be the best front and rear sprocket sizes for SM use?

ahhh...sprocket size question. all together now, "it depends". it depends on how fast you want to go, how fast a RPM you are okay with, etc. best thing to do is use our Gear/RPM/Speed calculator to do "what ifs"
