Hello,

My crf250r 2004 was just rebuilt, almost all the motor, $2000 USD was the cost of the repair. I did the break in drive, it has now about 2 hours since the rebuilt, I changed oil and oil filter. My only concern is that I am not completely sure the mechanic did the rebuilt correctly. (I don´t have experience on 4-stroke bikes). The mechanic took 4 months for the rebuilt and had a few problems, he had to buy new valves twice. How can I know if the motor is adjusted and built correctly, in my opinion it ran great the 2 hours. If it was a bad built would I had noticed a problem already? It is very difficult to start when it is cold, when it is warm it starts first kick.

lol full rebuild if you have the parts 3 hours if you don't have parts about 1 week $2000 sounds cheep but here in aus you would pay as much as $6000 but your parts are cheep like your dollar lol if it runs well then all you can do is wait and see did you receive a parts list ? and run down on the work done ? next time do it your self and then you will be sure

No reason to need another set of valves unless he pooched the first. I take it he either did not do any machine work, maybe he cut the seats by hand at best?

$2k gets you a quality build with parts from a machine shop. If I had to guess, i would say you are not in good shape. Hard starts are almost always valve problems unless the carb is way out.

your prices are so good for that alone i would like to live state side

check the valve clearances just to eliminate movement after break in. if set correctly, check your hot start cable and nut. check air boot leaks at head. report back.
