I have an 04 CRF250r that I bought from a guy about 3 months ago. When I went to look at it he kicked 3 maybe 4 times and fired right up. It had a little bit of a bog when you hit the throttle real hard (did not notice it after it got warm). After I got it home, I would start it up about every day just to hear it and it took me forever to get it to start. I changed the oil and filters on it as well as the spark plug just so I knew where it was. It is still a pain to get started. Push starts like a champ but idles a little wacky and has always done that. I went a head and shimmed it because I read a lot about thats a main problem in starting these CRF's. Exhaust was spot on and on the intake I could not fit anything under it. I used the calculator on a previous forum on here to get the correct new shims. Used zero as my clearance and used the old shim size to calculate. Ordered the shims put them in put it all back together checked the clearance again and still could not fit anything under it. I then used zero again as my clearance and used the shims I just put in to calculate again for another set of shims. Re-shimmed it according to the CRF's calculator for shimming and still I have no clearance, and still could not get it to start.
SO, what is next now. Do I keep using zero until I get a clearance or is there something else that is wrong. Timing is right and have a good spark. Any ideas!? This is very frustrating for me!
Thanks in advance!!!
