    Fork Seals

    by redridr52 » Fri Apr 18, 2008 10:38 am

I noticed the other day that there was fork oil that had been running down the fork tube. I am assuming its a leaky fork seal. I have heard you can take a tearoff or a film negative and clean them out. Or is it too late and I should take them to a shop and get them changed for like $300.

try the film trick...it may just be some dirt under the seal. it won't hurt anything to try it. if it doesn't work then seal replace time.

I use a bussiness card to clean seals
(needs to be stiff and thin).
But if your seals are elerly.. it's time.
Of course your third option is to tell you friends you have those new self-lubricating forks!
