Hey fullas, been a while since i been here but wanted to update you on my bike ('07 CRF250R). Had trouble starting it couple of months back would push start but not kick start after recently having the valves done and got some good advice from you experts on wot the prob could be. Anyway took bike back to the shop since I had only had it two months and it had been back once already and they ripped it apart again and THIS time found the problem. The previous owner had taken one of the throttle cables off (makes the resistence lighter apparently) and in doing so had not placed the carb boot back on properly, hence dirt was getting in and wearing the valves quickly, the bore was fine (lucky me) but the shop replaced the full piston kit , all new valves an springs, seviced the cylinder head and reassembled. We came to an agreement on the price (which worked out well for me considering the bill was over $1700, ) since it clearly wasn't my doing and the bike runs awesome now. So make sure everything is put back where it belongs if your gonna pull something apart, it can be costly. Thanks again to those who offered advice, learning all the time, laters

$1700 what a rip off. Next time get your self a service manual and ask questions on the forums it's not that difficult to do yourself and you will save TONS of money.

yeah a rip off alright but I didn't pay cause I'd onbly had the bike bout 6 weeks, $1700 was wot they showed ne on the bill though, i only paid 300 for parts.
$900 was labour too !!!

dang, i just got my bike back and i destroyed my crankshaft bearing and water pump and they had to split the case put $325 of labor and $515 for parts, well u got ripped but glad to hear your bike is running again.
