    Excel Spokes

    by chopshop » Sun Mar 16, 2008 8:53 pm

I managed to bust 3 spokes on my rear CRF250R wheel.
It is a 19x2.15 Excel wheel with an Excel hub (i took it off a CRF450R i was parting out, thats why its bigger)

My question is: Do i need to use special excel spokes for this set-up? Or can i just buy any spokes that are made for a 19x2.15 wheel?

Also, should i adjust the gearing at all since im am using a bigger wheel/tire set-up than the stock one?

You should use Excel spoke in the Excel hub. They are a larger diameter than stock. You can use another brand, but they must be oversize.

The gearing should be OK as the circumference hasn't changed only the width. The 250R uses a 1.85" rim, the 450R a 2.15".

The bike will be harder to corner with more rubber tho...
