    What should i do?

    by Tom#91_crf250 » Wed Jan 02, 2008 1:32 pm

What things should i do to improve the perfomance and looks of my stock 07 250.

Ive read the other tread about the bog and im experincing it quite bad especialy out of corners. After doing some research i have found people to say the the boysen quick shot 2 is the fix? am i right in thinking this?

Anything else i should invest in? exhuasts/tripple clamps/linkadges etc

    thanks
    tom

The R&D Racing Pump Cover.. which is in part an adjustable leak jet, has worked for some people. I have one, but haven't been able to install it yet. I should have a report in a week or so.

As far as good looks... bikes always look great when they're ridden correctly. So practice practice practice.. :)

But if you want bling... Some new shroud graffics will help. Check out One Industries, Factory Effex and N-Style for starters.

I really haven't done anything besides rejetting so far. Companies like Yoshimura will port your head, recut valve seats and do a few other odds and ends. Magazine writers seem to say that helps some bikes. But I really can't say how much it will do for a 250R. And those mods will cost you close to $2000. You might go with a different exhaust, but for the 250R, you could also drop a lot of cash on that. And the bang for the buck may not be what you are hoping for. The R isn't all that restricted to begin with.

One thing you may want to do to the bike is tune the suspension. If you weigh more than 150 lbs, that might make the bike better to ride and as a result, will allow you to ride it faster.

I know for a fact the forks on the 07 250R are harsh. Esp through braking bumps. Unless I sell the bike first, I'll be making some spring and valve changes to my suspension.

    Good luck Tom.

Thanks for the reply. At the moment i have my local dealers graphics on there. i will have a look into the The R&D Racing Pump Cover.

im realy looking to just improve the power slightly especialy in the bottom range but not looking to go over the top cause i cant ride the thing flat out yet.

i understand what your saying that you can drop a huge amount in to visual looks and things to try improve the performance some im just trying to figure out whats worth it or not as i have a few things which have been damaged in my last race

i agree with the suspension, it is very harsh, and it chucks me about alot. ive yet to get new springs and have it set up properly. but thats on my list first, well depends if i lose the weight or not before the season begins.

    thanks tom

i was experiencing the same problem with my 06 250 but then i heard about the JD jet kit and man has it made a world of a difference and its only $80 it comes with 3 different needles and instruction manual on what to set it at for different temps/elevations also included are i believe 3 different main jets. It is well worth the money and now i have no bog also same as you heard the boysen quickshot is a great add on and it gives better throttle response. Good luck gettin ur 250 in tip-top shape! ;)

just spoken to a mate who works for my local honda dealer he said the stock jetting is the best for my altitude etc here in england, and as im experincing the bog when i open it up but not when i roll on i should drain the carb as there is likely dirt or water in there.

    ???????

The highest point in the whole county is Great Wood Hill at 420'.

The stock jetting is way too lean...

My 06 250r had the bogging. I did the mod to the accel pump and diaphragm (found in this site). And it works great.
So, for no cost you can fix the problem.
