    Carb Removal

    by AUKwrestle250 » Thu Oct 18, 2007 11:21 am

Hey everyone. Now that winter's almost here, I was going to start making some modifications to my 2007 CRF250R for next season. I've already had my suspension re-valved, so it's time for some motor work. I was going to install the R&D PowerBowl to get rid of bog once and for all. I was also going to put a magnetic/billet drain bolt on the fuel bowl. The carb. on the 250R is pretty intimidating for someone who's relatively new to dirt bike mechanics. Does anyone have any suggestyions? I really don't want to create a bigger problem by messing something up. Thanks

    Jon

Well if it is just bowl and plug that is easy, take off rear subrame and loosen carb after losening stock bowl and drain bolt.

Leave all rest of cabe together and just change out the bowl and drain and put back together.

    Done, very straight forward!

The best suggestion - Make sure you have a manual!

Yup.. what he said.... Books say remove..

    Seat
    Muffler
    Tank
    Sub Frame
    Top Shock bolt. <<-- Torque spec = 33 ft-lbs

Support the rear tire if you undo that top shock bolt.

Also.. don't forget to close the fuel valve before yo uremove the tank... you probably already know that. Just a reminder.

One thing.. when you put it back together, make sure the cables that wrap around the right side and pas near the header are clear of the header.. Mine were not.. (dumb mistake on my part)... and the wrap on them melted away. Wires were ok. But tie them back so you don't have same issue. Bundle in question on my bike were the wires that come from the steering head area and end up going into the left side of the case.
