    Coolant Passage Dowell Pin?

    by crfjedi » Thu Sep 13, 2007 7:30 pm

I am in the process of rebuilding an '04CRF250R engine and am afraid to continue 'til I know for sure about this dowell pin. The Clymer manual mentions it but there is no part number from www.yamahaoftroy.com nor from the Honda parts list at our local shop. The shop owner is suppose to be getting a call back from the techline specialist but I know how things like that go. It's called a coolant passage dowell pin in the manual and it fits in the right side case just above the water pump. The cylinder slides down over it. Can anyone give me a part number? I can't imagine putting the cylinder on and it not leaking without having that part.
    Thanks for any help.

You sure it's not stuck in the bottom of the cylinder?

Thanks for the effort but that's not it. Those are the dowel pins that fit on the corners.
    "C" in the pic #113. I need "B".

I spent some time with the parts manager at Crossroads Honda and we ended up ordering one for a 450. The Honda parts fish didn't show one for a 250 (R or X) but had one for a 450. It's called a water pass collar. Part# 1102-MEB-670. I have no clue if it will fit the 250 but it's cheap and I'm gonna try it. This whole thing is just weird. If anyone has any insight, I am all ears.

I seem to recall a thread that covered this before. It was a mistake in the manual. I will see if I can find it.

OK found what I was talking about. Take a look and see if this is the same item. Turns out his was stuck to the cylinder.

So the 450 has one but the 250 doesn't.:o I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I am.
Thanks for looking up that link!
