    2004 vs. 2005 crf250r Differences?

    by cjthayne » Sun May 27, 2007 5:58 pm

Hi I am wanting to buy a CRF250r but I can't decided IF I want to get a 04' or a 05'. I'm leaning towards the 05' but I might want to get a 04' if there isn't much difference between the two. But anyways.... Does anyone know what the differences are if any between the 04 and 05 model of the 250r? Thanks

    Chris

I believe Honda's site will have that info. Just plug in the model year(s). I just bought an '05-CRF250R, and don't remember there being much difference. Subtle changes, like shaving weight here and there. Most parts interchange, I think.

I have heard reasons to go with the 2005. It was actually on this site also that Jaws had told me to go with and 05 because they changed the valve seats. They have had an increase of time before valve changes on the 05. I ended up with the 05 and i wouldn't change anything for it. I love the power it is almost always there and it revs very quickly. Go with the 2005.

I have an 04 but put a ported an polished 06 head done by Jason Jones of JJones Racing on. I use to be able hang on with the stock motor, but now my rear gets tired trying to hang on to the bike. Feels like my handle bars are as big as soup cans. My buddy has an 05 stock and said mine is much faster and more responsive.

i have an 05 CRF250R. the diff. that they made was that they shaved off 50lbs on the 2005 model thus making it 204lbs. the 04 model is 254lbs. thus making the 05 lighter, faster, better with corners, and more reliable
