Ah, yes, comes complete with the US Forest Service approved stamp. IF (note the big IF) I understood the dealer correctly, all you need to do to license the bike (450/500XC-W) for road use in CA is DOT tires, aftermarket horn, and then get the following factory EXC-W parts: add-on harness, mirrors, turn signals w/ switches, brake switches.

He had a 450 and 500 that he just converted for street legal that were getting picked up the same day I got my bike. They looked great - KTM did a fantastic job on placement of the blinkers and switches, and since the XC-W is an EXC-W less some bolt on parts, it sounds like a good way to go for those that want it. The question that I would have asked if I had an interest is how they could do the conversion without adding in the smog can, but again, he is the dealer so I assume he knows?!? Since UT is much easier for plating, it realy did not matter to me.

Very nice. I found one hold over 09 450XCW and and a factory reconditioned 08 that I'm looking at.

Trying to. The 09 was about $8200 out the door about the same as the '12 Honda and the 08 refurb was about $6500. The refurb has 500 miles on the stock odometer and looks really nice. I'm thinking it may be a safer bet than some used bike from a private seller as it has a 30day warranty and I can ride the heck out of it in that time to find any weakness.
