    09 crf 250r starting problems

    by Efly904 » Wed Jan 04, 2017 4:51 pm

Hey everybody I have an 09 crf 250r, I moved to Florida a lil while back from Nevada and took the bike with me when I moved. Ever since I moved to fl it won't start. I changed the jetting multiple times and the closest I've had to it actually running is
    Main 172
    Pilot. 42
    Needle NMUU
Needle settling is on the third notch. I have plenty of spark but it's way to rich as the plug is black and wet. . It just backfires when I try to start the bike.
Any help would be gladly excepted as I haven't ridden in some time because of the issue and the local riding community is not big.

The main and needle and needle position don't have any effect on starting. Just the pilot and fuel screw.
I suspect a plugged passage above the pilot of fuel screw. Are you using a new pilot?

I am using a new pilot, everthing is new. Do you think that the jetting is fine for sea level?
    Thank you for your reply!

A 42 pilot was the stock set up, so I have to assume that it runs ok with that.
I am not familiar with a NMUU needle. Stock is a NNSU. A 175 main is standard, so a 172 is way close enough.
Will the bike start and idle? Baby steps first.
If it won't then the jetting isn't the problem at all, it is a plugged passage or fuel supply into the carb.
