I've read a lot just looking for your experiences for lights kits. I don't plan on riding at night I just want to be barly legal to jump on a fire rode from time to time. So I won't need the blinklers or a horn just a running light and a tail light.

Tusk Racing thru Rocky Mountain Motorsports has complete kits both Dual Sport and Enduro. (harness turn signals, horn high/low beam headlight switch and tail light w/lic plate mount. They use LED lights which require less power to run. Their Enduro kit doesnt have the turn signals and the associated bar mounted switches. I just used the 250X D/S kit to 'Light Up' my 230. You can use an X headlight or an aftermarket like the Baja Designs unit.
With the R you will also have to get an aftermarket lighting coil.
Depending on where you live, you may not need all that's included in the D/S kit, but it is very similar to the BD dualsport kit and a ton cheaper. The Enduro kit being less involved is cheaper yet. Additionally you may have to have your stator up graded also.
