Great video from HotCams to watch for inspecting valve clearance and making adjustments - including shim calculations:

As a newbie wrencher just tearing into his '02 CRF 450R for the first time I also wanted to say "THANKS" to everyone who has chipped in and given me advice, the guys running this site, and especially the guys who wrote the killer "stickys" i've read, and re-read a hundred times.

    You've been a HUGE HUGE help. =D> =D> =D>

Update: Things are going well. I just finished changing my fork seals and fork oil (killer sticky by smash), have the subframe off, took out the airbox and cleaned an amazing amount of 'gunk' from it (can't believe any air was making it thru there at all), and installed a new Twin Air filter.

I still need to install the the boyesen water pump kit as well as applied racing crankcase vent system, but I'm about to get into the carb to install the powernow pair and the boyesen quik shot ... AND ... last, but certainly not least, I'm off to tackle the drivetrain, inspect my big bore athena piston & cylinder, and send my valves up to AS for new kibblewhites (great sticky by 124 for this too).

    Anyways, here she is 'before':

Here she is now, or 'during':

Oh yeah, the new seat I bought from SDG is giving me a hell of a time b/c the brackets at the end of the seat don't even come close to lining up with the subframe holes ... I'll make a separate post about this b/c I have no idea how to get that thing to align correctly. It also seems to be that i'm not alone with the issue b/c i've read on a couple forums this is common with their seats. Bummer, b/c the seat looks and feels great.
Here's a pix of my trouble (and the 2 brackets under the seat are fully 'latched' on the gas tank and subframe ... the seat is as far forward as 2 hours of pounding it with a rubber mallet after oiling it up and bending it in half would move it):

I'll be back with more updates ... thanks again. :D
