No, I do not have any gears connected to the crank yet.

I know this is old, but inst the main crank bearing in backwards? Shouldn't the beveled edge be up so that the bearing braces are bolted on over the bearing?

Very good observation! i installed the main bearing backwards and had to reheat and take them out again to turn em around, i tried to explain it in words after on the post (the bearing has a "cut-away" along one edge which when installed should face toward the inside of the engine so that the locking tabs fit!, but didnt want to make the post confusing. i appologize for this and the pics

HAHA... No worries.. I just used your whole thread to successfully rebuild my 05' Crf250. I had the hardest time finding out which way that main bearing went in and finally i just went on ebay and looked at people selling the case to see what factory way it was in.. Great Thread

Hi I removed my stator cover on my 450x and there is a seal with a spring on my flywheel shaft in front of the flywheel nut... would this be the oil seal from inside the stator cover itself ?

If so it seems worn out and I can not find any close up pics to see if the seal is the same as the 1 on my shaft

It was my stator seal I figured it out

Can you replace the left crankshaft seal without splitting the motor?
