Is shimming the valves of an 04 CRF 450R the same as a 250X? I hav an 04 CRF450R and read the how to article and was wondering if that is the same for my bike.... anyone know?

No it`s not, you`ll have to remove the cam sprocket on th 450.

When you get the 450 timed up with the crank gear dot and the lines on the cam gear, and the lobes facing toward the rear. You then have to turn the motor over 180 untill the cam lobes are facing the front of the bike.

You then remove the bottom bolt on the cam gear, you then rotate the bike back 180 and remove the second bolt. Make sure the crank is in time before you remove the second bolt.

Rocker arm and cam come out at same time, buckets will stick up in there so you have to be carefull and put your hand under the cam assembly when lifting or you`ll loose buckets and shims.
