Remove the old glue with some brakeclean or equivalent. Then install new grips with fresh glue.

Can't help you with the glue thing. Don't use it.
I use brakeclean. Spray a little in the grip, swish it around a little, dump the excess, and install. Just don't push too hard when all the way on, the brakeclean makes the rubber really soft and you could rip the end of the grip. Apply 3 wire wraps per grip and done!

i just put some super glue in the grip and on the bar and quickly before the glue dries jam the grip on the bar and the super glue acts just like lubricant for the grip to slide on. let 'er sit for about 15 to 20 minutes then wiretie the grips on there so they dont slide off.

I boiled my grips on the stove in a pot of water. No grip glue required because if you dont mess with them for 24 hours they will shrink and they will not move, mine havent.

I found it helped to put the glue inside the grip and not on the bar. Also make sure you have the correct grip on the correct side. Made that mistake once. oops.

I just changed the kids grips last week, tryed something i`ve never tryed.

Just put some gas on the bars and slid the grips on, after about 5 minutes they were tight. Did a 50 mile trail ride the next weekend and they never moved.

Gas, glue, water or hair spray it don`t matter just so you can slide the grips on.

If anyone is still looking at this post, I tried something new. Spray some carb cleaner in the grip, dump out the excess, spray windex on the bar, slide grip on, wait 5 minutes, done. I put three safety wire wraps on my grips to make sure there was no movement.

    1. Stop F'ing around with weird lubricants
    2. Clean your bars
    3. If you feel like its hard to put a grip on then start with the clutch side because the bar is smaller than the throttle barrel and slightly easier to get the grip on
    4. Slap some grip glue on the bar and slide the grip on. The glue will act as a lubricant making it easier to slide the grip on. (your grip might have a specific orientation that you need to make sure you get right or it will look goofy)
    5. Either cut a hole in the end of one grip or take your throttle barrel off to allow the air in the bar to escape.
    6. Slap some more grip glue on the throttle barrel and slip the grip on making sure you have the right side up. (don't put glue inside of the grip unless you want to get it on the inside of your throttle barrel.)
    7. clean your throttle assembly while its off and put it back together
    8. safety wire your grips and let the glue dry for 24 hours.

I put the glue in the grip so it doesn't build up on the bar.
