help with my fork rebuild parts order

    by QuietMike » Mon Mar 12, 2018 11:02 pm

    Hi, I just got a '04 crf230f.
It had a shock that was bent, so I need to make sure i order everything at once for the repair, and I havn't done this repair before.

I’ve taken the shock apart, are these bushings ok to reuse? One is solid grey and one has a brass color to it.
Also inside the end of the bent tube is another piece that I can’t remove, it feels like it’s a permanent piece there’s a white ring attached to it— will the new tube come with that?

    so i think i need:

    new tube
    bushings?
    oil seal/ dust seal
    fork oil

Yea pretty much , the bushings are wear parts anyway , so generally when your fluid starts looking "dirty/grayish" , then the bushings are usually the culprit ....In your 2nd and 3rd pictures , the top/left bushing is worn , the bushings guide and hold the inner tube steady in the outer tube , so when the bushings wear you get side to side movement which creates fork bind ...
