    2003 450 Springs (shock & fork) fit 07?

    by CRFpro982 » Sat May 10, 2014 7:33 pm

Long story short I have an 07 CRF450 that I just purchased that has springs set up for 200 pounds and I am 175 pounds. I have a friend sending me stock springs out of a 2003 CRF450 that he says will fit. I am just asking around to verify. Thanks

02-08 CRF450 Shock and Fork springs are interchangeable.

Do I need a special paint if I am going to paint the shock spring?

I would paint the fork spring. Seems a really bad idea.

Or were you talking about the rear shock spring?

Not the fork springs no one would see those haha.. But yes, the rear shock spring. It is the factory yellow but has a few chips in it.

They are Powder Coated from the factory , so to make the paint really hold up you would need to powder coat it and bake it , with that said , it does not get a lot of direct abuse so you can paint it with a spray can , just (remove it from the shock) scuff it up real good so the paint will stick , and you should be fine

Aw crap. Sorry, I meant to say I would not paint the fork springs.

That said, the shock spring should be good to paint as JD mentioned.
