    fork oil!

    by mr crf 250x uk » Thu Oct 06, 2011 9:25 am

Hi there all, newbie form the uk.. had my forks rebuilt just recently, new seals, they seem very hard with the clickers set to full soft! thinking of taking some of the oil out. is this just a case of taking the tops off and pouring some out? also how much oil should be in each leg? cheers, Rob. oh! its an 05 crf 250x. :)

do you have the correct springs installed for your riding weight? this is the typically reason for a very harsh suspension. removing some of the fork oil is not going to correct this.

that should work for you. if you have some mechanical skills you could do this work yourself with some of our how-tos and pretty inexpensive tools. might save some money and then you'd be able to service them in the future yourself.

Not trying to steal the thread but i had the same question. I have an 08 450R and several places I have read articles saying to lower oil height 10CC's. Is this possible with a syrienge and a piece of tubing on it or will it require turning the forks upside down? This is a last ditch effort before sending these forks out for a revalve. Im 190 with gear on and I cant find a happy spot with the harsh midstroke of these jackhammers.
