Fork Damper Problems

I have an 07 250x, this last weekend I changed the oil and seals. The right side went fine but when I got to the left side I put the fork damper and fork cap back together after bleeding the air. The piston will not fully extend itself like the one on the right side did. I have to pull the piston the last inch. I have added oil and rebleed 4 more times but it is still not extending. Does anyone have some ideas. Is the fork damper bad or the fork cap assembly bad.

The seal inside the floating piston on the base valve assembly is bad.

The only way that I can find the seal is to replace the entire fork damper. Is it okay to replace just the one or do I need to replace the one in the other fork also?

Here's the seal:

It's a bear to replace...
If only the one is bad, replace it. If you figure that if one is bad, the other will be bad soon, replace them both.

Thank you for the link. My service manual does not cover how to replace it. Do you now of any that do?

What I do is buy the cheapest fork damper assembly, part # 51450-MEB-003 ($40.17 from service Honda), remove the entire floating piston from it and install it on to the original assembly. To me its a hell of alot easier than trying to remove and install the seal alone...worth the extra cash in my opinion.

Not a bad idea...
It's 4X as expensive as it needs to be, but the aggravation of changing that seal might just be worth the extra $ 30...
