Turning your clickers counterclockwise

Every time I work on my suspension, I go through the routine of turning my clickers counterclockwise before taking anything apart. Why does this procedure need to be followed, and what happens internally if I don't turn the clickers all the way CCW?

CCW on the clickers opens the valves fully so fluid flows easily through them. Makes it easier and faster to bleed them.

That makes sense...I was afraid that I would tear something up by forgetting to turn them CCW.
