    supension help

    by shutterguy » Tue Sep 01, 2009 5:52 pm

I was at the track yesterday and noticed that my suspension feels really soft. I tried to stiffen up my compression and it did not do any good. Every time I landed any decent sized jump it hurt my knees and wrists. I think my shock might need a rebuild but was wondering if anybody had any other ideas

How long has it been since you had the oil changed in your suspension? I know it is time to change mine because mine gets spongy when my oil breaks down. If it been over a year it is probably time for a oil change.

I appreciate the response. Is it possible to change the shock oil at home or is that something that a suspension shop has to do. I know that shocks also have nitrogen in them so I am not to sure. I have done my forks before.

I would have a shop do it because of the nitrogen charge.

You will have to recharge the Nitrogen after the fluid change.

Unless you have a set-up that you can recharge 142-175 psi of Nitrogen, it's gonna be a shop thing...at least have a shop that can recharge it for you after you do the fluid change.
