    Valving

After hours of mainly fruitless searching on the net and in the library I have found very little in the way of re-valving suspension. There are some sites that are very detailed when it comes to assembly; but I have yet to find anything that describes just where to start when you want to adjust shim stacks. Is there some secrete formula? Is it all trial and error?

I have found examples for a BV such as this:
    20 30 x 0.10
    1 29 x 0.10
    1 27 x 0.10
    1 25 x 0.10
    1 23 x 0.10
    1 21 x 0.10
    1 19 x 0.10
    1 20 x 0.10
    1 22 x 0.10
    1 24 x 0.10
    1 26 x 0.10
    1 28 x 0.10

Can someone explain to me or direct me to a source that would detail what would happen if you added 1 28 x 0.10 and 1 26 x 0.10 This is just a random example but I am honestly starting from scratch and need the basics.

I am trying my best to learn; but I have to be honest....it seems like nobody wants to give up any info when it comes to suspension.

Nobody that does suspensions will share base valve and mid valve stacks. It's intellectual property and once the cat's out of the bag, there's no way to get it back in.

That's unfortunate. I really enjoy learning how to work on my bike and being able to dial in your own suspension would be outstanding. I think I understand the concept of what the shims do, I just wanted to know if there was some method of determining what shims go where, the number, etc.
I presume I am in for what may be a long, steep and frustrating trial and error learning curve.
