    Linkage change on CRF 250X

    by flipper6 » Mon Jun 01, 2009 7:58 am

I am setting up a crf 250X for my son for motocross.
The only issue I am hving right now is the suspension. Has already been modified by Full Travel innovations. I want to know if there is an advantage to changing the linkage from the X linkage to the R linkage. Still not thrilled with the handling on the track. Thanks

first off it is an X model. So you have a few disadvantages against you on a track: WEIGHT, weight and more weight, then restricted power and the 18" rear.

But sounds like you dumped some money at this Full Travel Innovations. First call would be to them.

    Linkage

I used the X for a specific reason. My son is 18 years old and 4foot 8 and disabled. I needed to get him off the crf150R cause he kept racing it in collegeboy against 450's and it was crazy. By the way he usually ran top eight out of about 25 entries in that class. The X has already been stripped and changed to an R. The suspension is ok, just not as good a it could be in my opinion. What I want to know is there an advantage to changing to the R linkage, not debating or hearing why I shouldnt be using an X. The electric start is a must have in our situation. Everything else can be changed.
