Does anyone have any advice for removing the front forks from an '05 CRF50F? My sons forks are shot. We don't have a service manual and are having a tough time getting them to come off.

    Thanks!

well they dont remove from the bottom clamp

So how are they shot? They are just grease and springs. The only thing that wears in them is the stock plastic bushing that you can buy an aftermarket derlin unit that last longer than the forks. You can find them on ebay very easily.

I am told that they are shot from grown ups riding it. We were able to get the forks off but can't take them apart. My guess is that they do need to be re-greased (bad). Will take a look at the springs if/when we get it all apart and might as well replace the bushings while in there.

Are they normally difficult to take apart?

There is a circlip in the bottom of the upper slider that comes out. If it is ridden by adults often you might consider these springs or a set of trick forks.

the #5 part is the only real part that wears out in them. Like I said you can find a derlin replacement on ebay and it will last forever.

Awesome -- thank you so much! That totally helped. We will definitely beef up the suspension on this thing while we've got it apart.
