Top of forks & Upper triple clamp

Just wondering what the difference between placing the top of the front forks flush with the upper triple clamp verses having the tops ¼” to ¾ “ sticking out.

When I bought my 04 250R used, the guy who sold it to me had the top of the forks almost flush with the top surface of the upper triple clamp. When I had the seals replaced and reinstalled the forks, I lined the top of the forks up with the top of the triple clamps using a line that is manufactured on the fork?

I would think it has something to do with wheelbase and turning radius but not sure?

moving the fork legs up in the triple clamp the wheelbase is shortened and the bike will turn quicker but the stability at high speeds wont be great. lowering the fork legs in the triple clamp will increase stability at speed.

speedwell33...welcome to CRF's Only message boards! to your question adjusting the height of the forks in the triple clamp effectively change the rake which affects steering responsiveness. raise the forks in the triple and it will turn "quicker" and negatively affect straight-line stability. lower them in the triple and it will turn "slower" but will increase straight-line stability. there's always a trade off isn't there? steering stabilizers will help maintain straight-line stability in the former case.

again, welcome!
