OK...probably a basic question here. Is there any reason that I can't adjust the fork height in the trees on this bike. I'm 5'7" short (not tall)and I could use a little more steering as well. I'm only looking at dropping the forks 10mm or so but the manual states that the forks should be flush with the caps?

yes you can raise the forks in the triple clamp. 10mm is a lot however and will affect straight line stability. if you need to lower the bike you should get a kouba lowering link and then you'll lower the back which will allow you to lower the front without sacrificing stability.
here's a link to the kouba links:

good to know, Thanks. I actually have a Scott's Stabilizer so I'm not too worried about the straight line stuff. 10mm was a guess, what would you suggest? I'm more concerned about the turning abilities in tight, high speed stuff than the overall height, I've been short all of my life! I've kinda adapted to it. What is the benifit of the lowering link...is it just to get me closer to the ground?

yes...the link lowers the rear of the bike. 10mm is a lot...i would half it and see how the bike handles.
