Replacement Fork Seals Leaking After Fitting

Hi everyone, what a great site, loads of information from a great bunch of people. :D

    Anyone experienced what I have?

Recently bought a 2004 450R, the fork seals were leaking, so I promptly bought a pair of Pyramid seals off a listing on ebay (trusted seller).

I had second thoughts about fitting them myself so took the bike into my regular dirt bike shop who were happy to fit them for me.

I picked the bike up this morning from the shop, one of the guys in there noticed a fine film of oil on the fork legs, he stated the seals didn't appear to be quite as 'tight' when they installed them as the make they normally use.

Well after a gentle ride around the practice track, they're as bad as the original seals!

The chrome on the fork legs aren't noticebly pitted or scratched.

The guys in the shop are great and I have every faith in them.

:?: Has anyone out there had a similar experience with Pyramid seals or with any other make?

I can't imagine it, but could the chrome on the forks just have worn down?

Okay maybe I was given the wrong seals, a bit weird though how the original seals were leaking and then the replacement one leaked straight away to!!!

Please don't hit me with comments about the guys in the workshop, perhaps if they felt the seals wern't as tight as they should have been they should have stopped, I'll discuss that on Monday with them.

Sorry to ramble on, look forward to hearing from anyone that can throw some ideas  in to the pot.

    Happy riding,
    Phil
