Do any of you guys use a suspension saver or do you just ratchett down your front suspension a little?

I use a suspension saver so there is no play in the tie downs, and my suspension does not compress more than maybe an inch.

I just bought two of them for our mini's.
I've been told cinching down the mini's too much is not a good thing for their springs or seals.
I haven't seen too many people using them on the bigger bikes though. But I'd have to say it seems like a good idea. Especially if it's on the trailer a long time.

I use them all the time and think it is worth while - I have lost one before and the tie downs then become loose so I put a bungie cord around it and the forks.

I have tried using a seal saver many times but even with a rubber band or a bungie it always works itself loose, in turn the tie downs come undone and you are at risk of losing the bike. Id rather buy new seals than a new bike. Maybe a different brand or style would be better? For me its not worth the time or effort.
ps I am not very slow in my truck on the dirt either- even loaded with bikes.

I blew 3 fork seals (same one everytime) when having the bike tied down. Now with my seal saver i've yet to see one leak (knocks on wood).

Did it taste like a regular seal?

I use a bike shoe that locks on the front tire and I don't have to use any straps!! Been using them for years and they work great.

I use a homemade fork support and seal savers.
HOPEFULLY my seals will last longer than I do.
(please don't ask my wife)

Since I had my fork springs replaced to stiffer for my weight, I cannot ratchet my forks down much at all. Maybe an inch. I doubt that is going to cause much of a problem, so I haven't worried about it.

I have found if you rachet down front and back the bike stays steady as a rock. You don't have to go full travel either.
I use a block of wood(poor mans seal saver) on my sons CR80R as upside down forks seem to leak more often. I tie down the back on it as well.
That's my two cents worth anyway, what ever works for you and keeps it in the trailer is good.

Been using them for several years now ... they do occasionally come loose, but I use carabiners (sp?) on the end of my tie downs also, so there is no risk of he bike disconnecting from the truck.
I have a couple of the ATK bike shoes that I used to use on my kids bikes, but I don't really like the way it locks the front wheel but allows everything else to sway ... probably ought to Ebay them or something.

I use one as well never lost one yet. the only time i don't use it is if I load my bike single in back of my pickup. love that stupid little thing keeps my bike very solid on the trailer.
