    lowering a crf 50

    by cole » Sat Dec 30, 2006 10:49 am

I just bought mu daughter a 2005 crf 50 . Which she likes but cannot get both feet on the ground, She can get one foot down but she is a little nervous about this .
Is there anyway to lower this bike say maybe 1 inch . I looked under the bike and do not see anyway to do it other then maybe getting a shorter shock.
any help would be much appreciated .

I think most people in this predicament just use the training wheels until the kids can touch the ground and get enough balance.

she does not need training wheels. She has ridden a kdx 50 a few times and had no problem . Putting training wheels on when she knows she can ride without is like putting her back in diapers seems conter productive to me .

anyone know of a shorter shock on the market

Excuse me, didn't mean to get your diapers in a twist.

You can remove the seat cover and shave an inch or two off the seat foam and put the cover back on. Use an electric bread knife.

All the aftermarket shocks and springs for the 50 seem to be made for adults wanting to "pit bike" them. They all seem to add 2-3" in ride height. The only one I have seen that is adjustable in ride height is the one from Fox Racing. It's an airshock and can be adjusted using air pressure. It's only $ 384.00 on sale.
