Fairly sure it would have been the 'Leatt GPX Pro Carbon' by the looks of it...
Retails for £599.99 in the UK, but looks like it works pretty well!

I have always said that AMA, FIM, CMX, CMRC and all other motocross and offroad motorcycle racing organizations should be implementing that "neck protection devices" should be mandatory!!!
Why are boots mandatory and all racing events but not neck protection? Sounds pretty silly to me! Common sense people, common sense!!!!

They can wear flip flops and it would be fine by me.
When it comes to protective gear it should be left up to the rider. If they want to wear less protective gear, then they can deal with the consequences. JMO

Not even going to say why that last statement is just wrong.

Couldn't agree more it should be common sense not a rule or something that is mandatory.

One big reason is that the kids who idolize these guys will without question emulate their heroes.
The other thing that's idiocy is all the jump happy BS racing has become. The sport would do just fine without ridiculously peaked doubles, triples,ad nauseum.
Dirt bike sales aren't a third of what they were 35 years ago, attendance is down at supercrosses and nationals, so save the "nobody would come" bunk if suddenly the races didn't look like a kangaroo race.
Look at the wheelchair brigade at the supercrosses. Go down the line and remember what happened to those guys and why. Think. Doug

And I won't get into knee braces and their potential downsides.
It can be a dangerous sport with unforgiving results.
I know a trail rider who had an over the bars type accident and is now in a wheelchair. He had all the protective gear, it was he came down on a rut in the middle of his back.
Insurance costs for events will determine what's mandatory, not common sense.
We can armour our bodies as much as we like, it only may help.
Will still buy the stuff though and treat it like insurance, sometimes it pays out and some time the fine print catches up with us.
Remember the old saying,
"Rewards go to those who take the highest risks", and the ultimate reward is death if you are the religious type. That works for all religions to as far as I know.
