Xring chain rubbed my engine cases

My first post here, hello everyone. I have an 08 450R and installed a DID X-Ring chain. It was installed for about 4 hours and i took it off for cleaning. I noticed the rivets on the inside were rubbed down a bit. Upon inspection I found that the chain had been rubbing the engine cases around the front sprocket. Luckily I found it before it rubbed all the way through. I never thought of measuring the chain just thought they were universal. Is there a spacer to to move the sprocket out or did I waste 100 bucks on a chain. New buyers beware!

welcome to CRF's Only! yes, you need this spacer:

it will move the chain out 1mm enough to keep it away from your case cover. again, welcome.

Thanks for the help, but i have a question regarding the spacing. Will only shimming the front sprocket cause unever wear on the rear sprocket? Seems like both would need to be shimmed to keep things lined up. Thanks again.

no it is not an issue. the 1mm is not enough to cause this type of issue.
