Compressing your forks DOES NOT DAMAGE them. The idea behind the block between the wheel and tree is to prevent tiedowns from coming slack under hard deceleration/bumps.
If you could damage springs by compressing the fork, they would be junk from a few miles of riding. You aren't going to push them as far as they move during normal riding.
Use only Genuine Interocitor Parts.06 250X Flatlands skid and rad guards. Clarke 3.1 gal tank. Cycra Probends, Rekluse Pro, correct springs. Horn, mirror, brake/tail/license lights and a hanger for the plate. That is all.

I agree, but you just don't want to leave them compressed continuously.
We have two companies of Marines running rampant all over the northern half of this island, and three Army regiments pinned down in the southwestern corner, doing nothing. What the hell is going on?

Old topic, but very interesting way to tie two bikes in. I will have to try this. I would love to be able to close my tailgate!

I have a 8' box (long bed) on my truck and I have no problem closing my tailgate. I also have a box up front designed to keep the back tire snug to the tailgate. I carry a 450X, Susuki DRZ400, and a CRF230 in my truck. Awile back I had an old 1989 XR350, 1991 XR250 a CRF230 and a 2001 XR100 in my truck each one has a 2x8 cut to fit under the fender and on the tire so my forks get compressed maby 3/4 of and inch and I've never had a problem.
