Hot Cam Stage 1 v Stage 2

I have read with interest the various views posted on the differences between the Hot cam Stage 1 and Stage 2. It is said there is little difference in the bottom end (maybe some loss??) between the Stage 1 and 2 although the Stage 2 gives more power Mid to Top end.
Is this a comparison with a stock X cam or between the Stage 1 cam and Stage 2??

The Stage 2 gives more mid to top end over stock. The Stage 1 gives more bottom to mid over stock. It's that simple. The stage 2 is great!!
BTW, I would reccomend this mod to anyone who wants killer performance at a reasonable price.

Just FYI, the stage 2 actually adds power all across the board, no losses.

I did not mean to imply that there is a loss on the bottom with a Stage 2, just that it IS most noticable in the mid to top end.

I forgot. Are you guys running stock exhaust or not?

I sold my X with almost all bling and blang removed except for the Stage 2 cam and jetting.
With a stock exhaust in place, with diffuser installed, with the back fire screen, the Stage 2 cam ,JD kit with a 162/45 red needle middle clip the damn thing ran super !
I highly recommend that cam to X riders regardless of what you're looking to improve, low ,mid or bottom, it's a lot of bang for the buck and has zero adverse effects, anywhere. Doug

Now this is my point

There is so much conflicting information out there...
Does the Stage 2 give the same bottom end as the Stage 1 or are you saying that the Stage 2 gives the same bottom as stock but adds power mid to high?
Is there anyone out there that has tried both Cams?
Doug I may well pm you about this as I am keen to get your view on what (if anything) the Stage 1 could give over the Stage 2 - And apart from the trials tyre recommendation

your advice has been golden....
Hope you have the time to straggle both forums with your new ride...

The Stage 2 does give a little bit better performance on the low when compared to stock. It is designed for better mid to top end performance, the little bit better on the low end is just a bonus. It does not however give as much to the low end as a Stage 1. I have a Stage 2 in mine X, and my neighbor has a Stage 1 in his. I have ridden both and it comes down to personal preference and type of riding you do most.
this is my opinion.

So, SIV, you are saying that if you do mostly tight single-track then Stage one may be for you, but if you do Dez and some single, then stage2 may be for you?

I got the chance to ride in Mr Knight's playground over the weekend (Isle of Man). NOW I know why this guy is sooooo good - Best day's trail riding I have ever had, PERIOD.

...Don't you mean... FULL STOP? Where is the Stage 3 cam when you need it?!

I have been considering this mod. Ever since I went with the exhaust system, I have seen the potential for more low end grunt. This thing already has enough top end for what I am riding (Thanks Doug!). I may look at the Stage 1 when I adjust valves.

Just do the Stage 2 big guy and trust me.
With what you have, ading a Stage 2 and opening up your airbox like the Honda CCC shows unless you've already done so, you'll have low -end out the wazoo.
Ask SIV,too. Doug

I just picked up a Stage 2 on Ebay. Any tips or advice on the istallation process?
