Poll for general discussion on 450X Forum
Posted: Thu Jun 22, 2006 10:13 pm
Let's just have a poll.
This struggle for control is amusing, I think most of us by now realize it (the desire for control) would only get worse. Let's just see.
This particular forum is unlike any concerning the sport, the personalities, the going out of the way desire to help new people, everything positive I can think of,not perfect, but please someone tell me what is?
This is so very obvious, you come busting onto the site and you're going to change it all to make you happy, is that it Krannie ?
You have always been welcomed here, your opinions on mechanical things respected, exactly why are you taking out frustration from some other issue and transfering it to a dirt bike discussion board ?
We have fun , we welcome and help new people, we even had a fund to help out a buddy who got his stuff ripped off.
All things TT never dreamed of doing. So you want to burst on the scene and change everything ?
Check out the poll numbers. You'll find yourself pretty lonely. Doug

I think you need to add one more choice...
"let Ken decide how to run HIS site"
OK, Asskissing over.
This is the best board I have ever been on, I hope it stays that way.

That's right reverend Doug. Me and i belive most of us long time crf's only forum members agree with you. We have received a lot from these wonderful site, mechanical support, even moral and economical support like you told what happened to nowazzu. I think we all owe to these site.

I support the non-450X topics. However, I am pledging to clean up my act a bit toward the goal of keeping the site more family oriented. It will just be more of a challenge to me to try to come up with witty innuendos to sail over the heads of our kids. Problem is, I'm not witty and I am not sure I know the definition of "innuendo". Now my posting rate is going to suffer. I'm never going to catch up with Smashdata.

Most of the technical questions asked in this forum would be considered general discussion like jetting, suspension, etc.
There are topics for all of that so the only thing left specific to the 450X would be add ons and specification questions.
How good do you think the forum would be then?
But like what was said before, that's up to Ken.

I am not a mega-poster and I don't pipe up too much. I try to have a little fun, but like others have admitted, don't come close to Doug, DD, ~, nowaazu, CB (and countless others) when it comes to the fun, sarcastic humor. I try to keep my posts respectful and welcoming. When, people like Krannie (and there's been others) come to a site that has helped me immensely and trashtalk, I take it personally.
Nothing wrong with voicing your opinion and agreeing to disagree about things. I think I have less than 10 posts over at TT simply because it looks like there's a bunch of arrogant a$$holes over there. I have been the victim of the TT "do a search" answer when asking a question. Don't get me wrong, I have also received that advice here at CRFs, but it was always accompanied by some specific advice. When you get the "do a search" answer at CRFs, it is always as extra support to an answer someone has given you...it's not THE answer.
Krannie (and others like Krannie) - If you're willing to play nice, be a [respectful] smarta$$ now and then, I believe everyone would agree with me that you are more than welcome here. When you are here, you are in the CRFsOnly house...show some respect. If not, you're welcome to take your a$$ back to TT (or off a cliff) at your earliest convenience.
Ken owns this site. He has a suggestion box. Submit your suggestion. If he does it, great. If not, shutup and move on.
All dirtbikers welcome...all douchebags, see yourself out!

I see a few off topic items here and there.. You know what? I look at them and decide if I want to go further or not. It's my choice. I enjoy the humor, razzing, etc that makes this forum unique. I didn't join TT because of some of the things that were mentioned earlier. I chose CRFS only for it warmth, attitude, camaraderie, and most of all, the depth of knowledge and willingness to help any smuck(like myself) that strays in here with a oft-times asked simple question.
That type of thing only comes with "loose" moderation. I hate stupid flames, but I watched you guys try to help a person with an issue who wasn't listening and then you became exasperated... I think you were due!
Ken, my suggestion is to "go softly". Guys, my respectful suggestion is to attempt to keep this family friendly as much as possible.
Whew! After this diatribe I may get flamed

I've been here a little while. I am an "R" guy.
When I first joined, it would take a full day before I refreshed and got to read more than a couple posts (like maybe 4 posts). Mostly all technical with the occasional "what bike do I buy" question. With the addition of all the action in the "X" forum since it became what it is comes more to read (upon making the decision to read it). A decision that usually yields a tech tip, a joke, and maybe a "yea right" comment under my breath. Whatever.
All of the gentlemen (and ladies ofcourse) here at CRF's made it what it is today. Probably the most helpful, robust, friendliest, and courteous forum I've been a member of. And the management is a class act. I welcome the humor, jokes, and "yea right" comments. It's all in fun and a bare necessity in my opinion.
I must have missed the original post that sparked this one, but if this place turns into "all serious" mode and loses its humor...it's
character if you will, I personally will be disappointed. And as a horribly bi-product of this, may actually have to pay attention at work instead of reading about all the "X"er's gay tendencies for the color pink....not that there is anything wrong with that.
Keep it rolling guys....

Not from me you won't, good posts Joe,Jaws.
This forum would take a big nosedive if suddenly it had to be all technical, all the time. Doug
